Ecological laser diode driver

Sylphium eco laser driver is a laser diode driver, designed to improve safety with interlocks, simultaneous high- and low-side current sensing and thermal cutoffs. Also, power efficiency of your setup is improved with an internal adjustable power supply.
Sylphium is fully digital control combined with traditional analog control signals.

  • Input voltage: 24 .. 48V, must have at least 4V margin to maximum diode drive voltage
  • Output:
    • Voltage: 2 .. 30V (resolution: 1mV)
    • Current: 0..2.5A, <100ns 80/20 rise time

  • Power consumption: 1.5W when idling, 4W when main power enabled
  • Efficiency: 75% .. 97% when powering the diode

  • Current limiting: Both high- and low-side current sensing, 1mA resolution
  • Safety: Interlock with user-settable delay (min 2s), optional second interlock input can be enabled
  • Thermal cutoff: 3 internal temperature sensors, main power will shutdown automatically if overheating occurs

  • Communications: RS-485 interface daisy-chainable up to 32 units (compatible with Alshain Strix)
  • Analog interface:
    • External modulation (1.5 A/V, 2kΩ input impedance)
    • Current measurement (0.7 V/A, 50Ω output impedance)
    • Photodiode setpoint (1.5 A/V x amplifier gain, 2kΩ input impedance)
    • Photodiode current (1 V/A x amplifier gain, 50Ω output impedance)
  • Trigger output: Programmable (level + polarity) TTL trigger derived from output current, 50Ω output impedance
  • On-board IO: 1x opto isolator output + 1x 3.3V isolated digital output, eg. for shutter control

  • Internal modulation: 12bit DAC with 1 ksample arb waveform buffer, sample rate: 1kHz .. 1MHz
  • Photodiode regulation: Photodiode input (with 0V & 5V bias), current ranges: 3µA, 30µA, 300µA, 3mA. Can be used to regulate laser diode light output

  • Mounting: Slots for M6 bolts, spacing compatible with both metric and imperial optical breadboard
  • Made in Finland
